Boxelder Bugs    Lady Bugs

The adult boxelder bug is black with a red outline. They are nuisance pests that become a problem in late September or in October when they are looking for a place to overwinter. Often, they pick homes.

On a sunny fall day, they can be found by the thousands on the sunny side of the house. This causes two kinds of problems: 1. a cosmetic problem, and, 2. an indoor problem as they come in doors and windows. But, if they are not treated during this VERY NARROW window of opportunity, they will get into the walls and become a problem all winter long.

Itís best to call us when you start to see them on the outside of your house in the fall, before the window of opportunity closes.

Lady bugs are also a nuisance pest that, like boxelder bugs, want to get into the walls of your house to overwinter. More properly named the Asian lady beetle, this non-native bug is orange, while our native lady bugs are red.

I consider this pest to be untreatable at the present time because their "window of opportunity" is so narrow, that for practicable purposes, it doesnít exist.
